DESCRIPTION:The Spring Manufacturers Institute (SMI) will offer a new spring design training webinar for Flat Spring and Spring Washer Design on Thursday\, December 3\, 2026 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm EST using Microsoft Teams. Our web-based training programs have been quite popular. High marks have been received from students who attended. SMI's Spring Design 204 Flat Spring and Spring Washer Design webinar combines instruction on basic spring design fundamentals\, along with the opportunity for hands-on use of SMI's world-famous Advanced Spring Design 7 (ASD7) software. The course is designed as a focused\, real-world spring design training session.This class will benefit students by increasing their spring design knowledge and their company by having an SMI-trained associate as part of their team.\nThe training course instructor is Al Mangels\, Past President & Chief Technical Advisor Lee Spring (retired). In his 40 plus years at the company\, Al worked in production control\, manufacturing engineering\, design engineering and management systems integration leading to his role as President from 1999 to 2019. In addition to serving on the SMI technical committee\, Al serves as the technical committee chairman for the New England Spring and Metalstamping Association (NESMA).\nTodd Piefer\, ASD7 software expert from UTS\, will be available to answer any software and application questions.\nThe cost for the program is $170.00 for SMI members\, $450.00 for non-members (with discounts for multiple students).\nSMI will provide an ASD7 30-day license to each registered participant.
